We have since removed the locking mechanism, and no longer put new DVDs/Blu-Rays/4Ks in locking cases. Everything is on the browsing shelves. We moved them from behind the desk to in the cases (not locked) about a year ago. They are cheaper than most books and it was extremely time consuming for staff. We haven't had any theft so far.

<p class="MsoNormal">Does anyone else still do this? Is it more common than I am familiar with beyond the handful of libraries I have worked or been a part of? I think it was put in place to prevent stealing but I am not sure how much that is an issue compared to checking out someone with 10 DVDs going through the filing system. Looking forward to hearing back, thank you!</p>
