Guess this isn't something that other libraries have done, so I get to boldly forge the path! I'll order something and see how it goes, and share my thoughts after (if I remember, I'll also share the link to view the feed with everyone). <br></div><div><br data-mce-bogus="1"></div><div>Thanks for the advice I was given! Here's the answer one library shared:<br data-mce-bogus="1"></div><div><br data-mce-bogus="1"></div><div> <!--StartFragment--><div><div><div dir="ltr"><div><em>Yeah, I would recommend using a 1040p or higher resolution webcam. These are fairly cheap ($30-$40) and provide enough clarity of image that it should work for your purposes. The 2 downsides are that web cams often have a bit of distortion at the edge of the frame given the focal point of the camera and that you may need to invest in a cheap boom arm to hold the camera in place. Given that you intend for this to be a live feed, the webcam would have the easiest interface for a computer.</em></div><div><em>Let me know if you have any other questions.</em></div><div><em><br data-mce-bogus="1"></em></div><div><em><br data-mce-bogus="1"></em></div></div></div></div><!--EndFragment--> </div><div data-marker="__SIG_PRE__">Donald Priest<br>Director<br>Southgate Veterans Memorial Library<br>14680 Dix-Toledo Rd.<br>Southgate MI 48195<br>734-258-3002<br></div><br><hr id="zwchr" data-marker="__DIVIDER__"><div data-marker="__HEADERS__"><b>From: </b>"Don Priest via Michlib-l" <michlib-l@mcls.org><br><b>To: </b>"michlib-l" <michlib-l@mcls.org><br><b>Sent: </b>Monday, January 27, 2025 12:48:37 PM<br><b>Subject: </b>[Michlib-l] Live video question<br></div><br><div data-marker="__QUOTED_TEXT__"><div style="font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif;font-size:12pt;color:#000000"><div>The past couple of years, we've had butterflies in the library, displayed from caterpillar to release. This year, we'd like to set up a live camera feed, something we could display on our website, or provide links to, so people can check on them any time. I'm hoping to get some recommendations for a camera to purchase, that would let us do this. There are so many different kinds of cameras out there to sort through! I am, of course, trying not to break the bank, and I'd prefer something that doesn't transmit audio (in either direction). If anyone has done something like this, or knows more than I do (a low bar), I'd be grateful for the guidance!
