<div dir="ltr"><div>Good morning everyone! I hope you're having a fine Sunday! <br></div><div><br></div><div>I'm giving a presentation for Nerd Nite TC (<a href="https://traversecity.nerdnite.com/">https://traversecity.nerdnite.com/</a>) at the end of the month on "Not Your Mother's Librarian." It's a short presentation where I give quick run through (I only have 15 minutes) on the history of librarianship as well as what libraries do today which we all know is a lot! I'm sourcing from the librarian / library worker community on the following questions to add to my presentation. The responses are anonymous. Answer as many as you like.<br></div><div><br></div><div><ul><li>What position or job have you held that doesn't scream librarianship?</li><ul><li>Example: I was a liquor store manager and worked at a meat packing plant before I got my MLIS. One friend worked at a funeral. Another friend runs a soup kitchen.</li></ul><li>Do you have degrees or certifications that doesn't scream librarianship?</li><ul><li>Example: One friend has a bachelor's in religious studies and another friend has a master's in archaeology.</li></ul><li>Do you have any interests or hobbies that don't scream librarianship?</li><ul><li>Several friends are gardeners and another one works on cars.</li></ul></ul><div><br></div><div>The purpose of these questions is to break the stereotype that librarians and library workers hang out all day reading. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Any response would be great! If there is any interest in the presentation, I'll send out a link at the end of the month.</div><div><br></div><div>P.S. I work at several library systems here in N. Michigan and I am presenting as myself and not as a rep for those libraries in case any of my bosses are reading this. :)<br></div><div><br></div><div>Best,</div><div>Lisa</div><div><br></div></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br clear="all"></div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div>Lisa Rabey | @heroineinabook</div><div><a href="https://linktr.ee/heroineinabook" target="_blank">https://linktr.ee/heroineinabook</a><br></div></div></div></div></div>
