<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Have you ever thought about where summer library themes and slogans come from? Who thinks them up? How we select each year’s slogan? Well, the answer is YOU!</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Each year the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) seeks feedback from Michigan library staff for future summer slogan and theme suggestions. Libraries from across the nation also contribute, and together,

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Eloise Greenfield Children's Poetry Advocate of the Year Prize<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Children's Book Council (CBC) and HarperCollins Children’s Books are proud to announce the annual Eloise Greenfield Children's Poetry Advocate of the Year Prize, to be announced each April for Poetry Month.
<b>This annual award will recognize a librarian, teacher, bookseller, or literacy advocate who is supporting the reading of new and backlist books of children's poetry by Black poets. </b><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Librarians, teachers, and booksellers are being asked to nominate someone they know who is doing this vital work, and a select independent committee organized by the CBC will choose a winner and honorary mentions.
<b>Nominations are open now until Feb 29, 2024.</b> Nominate a colleague or someone in your community using the Google Form link below. The winner will be announced in April. CBC will hold a virtual award announcement and conversation with the winner and Eloise's
daughter, Monica Greenfield. The CBC and HarperCollins will donate $1,000 worth of children's poetry books and other children’s titles to the school, library, or literacy organization of the winner's choice.

<u>The Ready to Read Michigan Parent & Early Childhood Educator Toolkit</u>. The programs in the toolkit are designed for library staff to host throughout the community, engaging and modeling early literacy practices to parents, caregivers, and early childhood
educators. Betsy will equip library staff with the information, skills, and ready-to-use tools to promote early literacy through your library, copies of the toolkit will be provided.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">This RTRM training will start with an introduction/refresher on the how, what and why's of early literacy skills and best storytelling practices. Then we will transition to cover the workshops in the Ready
to Read Michigan Toolkit, which are designed specifically for library staff to easily facilitate with parents and caregivers with children ages 5 and under. Lastly, participants will address the important role played by Early Childhood Educators in the development
of children from birth to age five, using familiar tips and tools on how to conduct a two-part workshop for Early Childhood Educators at your library, supported by the materials produced by
