Grand Rapids Public Library Announces Move to Curbside Service

GRAND RAPIDS (November 18, 2020) The Grand Rapids Public LIbrary
(GRPL) will temporarily end in-person library services starting
Monday, November 23. GRPL To Go curbside service will be offered
at all locations as well as digital download and streaming
services.

“We all need to do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19,”
said GRPL Director John McNaughton. “Moving to a curbside-only
model is our way of mitigating the spread of the virus in the
community and keeping our staff and patrons safe while still being
able to access library material.”

GRPL To Go curbside service allows library patrons to place up to
25 holds in their GRPL account and pick them up at the location of
their choice. The no-contact pick up can be done via their vehicle
or walk up. Holds must be placed in advance and a patron will be
contacted when they are ready for pick up. Patrons have 14 days
after receiving notification to pick up their holds.

Curbside service is available at all GRPL locations. Hours are
Mondays and Tuesdays, 1-7pm; and Wednesdays 10 am - 4pm. On
Fridays, Main, Madison, Van Belkum, West Side and Ottawa Hills
branches offer curbside from 10 am - 4 pm. On Saturdays, curbside
is available at Main, Seymour, West Leonard and Yankee Clipper
from 10 am - 4pm.

The library also offers free printing services for patrons.
Patrons can submit a document through a form and the library will
print it and make it available for curbside pick up. Job seekers
can use the free resume review service to get help finding a job.

In addition to the GRPL To Go curbside service for physical
materials, GRPL offers a large variety of digital options
including online library card signup and access to free eBooks,
eAudiobooks, digital magazines, and streaming movies, tv shows and
music. Learning resources such as Lynda, Creativebug, Ancestry,
and more are also available online for free with a GRPL library
card.
