direction, this position plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates library and cultural arts programs; performs professional library work; and performs related administrative responsibilities as required.
<b>Key responsibilities </b>include, but are not limited to<b>: </b>(1) planning, organizing and directing the city’s library, cultural arts and historic preservation programs; (2) developing, recommending, and implementing department policies and procedures;
(3) managing staff through other supervisors, setting goals and objectives; selecting, training and motivating staff; assessing performance and making salary recommendations; (4) representing the Library & Cultural Arts Department in the community and at professional
meetings as required; and (5) coordinating department related activities with other city departments, divisions, and outside agencies. See the

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;mso-line-height-alt:1.1pt"><b>Qualifications</b>. Any combination equivalent to experience and education that will provide the required knowledge and abilities may qualify a prospective candidate. A typical way
to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: (1) an MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program; (2) five years of library leadership/management experience in the operation of a medium to large municipal library
<span style="color:black;background:white">preferably with some cultural arts and historic preservation aspect; and (3) three years supervisory experience at a senior management level. The successful candidate will also demonstrate visionary leadership skills,
excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build productive relationships through political acumen and effectiveness, promote collaborative partnerships through civic engagement,
