library staff and the community. As the “face and voice” of the Library, the Director will build relationships and lead the advance toward new service frontiers. Under the general direction of the seven-member appointed Board of Trustees, the Director will
serve 150,000 Mesa County residents from eight locations with a $6.8 million annual operating budget. Working with a collaborative, high-performing team of 74FTE, the Director will have a significant impact on an exceptional Library District and community

beauty and dramatic red rock landscape of the Colorado National Monument in a mild, temperate high desert climate; exhilarating outdoor adventures including hiking, camping<span style="color:red">,</span> or skiing on the nearby Grand Mesa; miles of world-class
mountain biking trails; and is home to more than twenty wineries and vineyards that produce and serve some of Colorado’s best wines including several national award winners. There is also a highly vibrant and engaged arts community (Art On The Corner, the
Art Center, Friday Night Art Walk)—650 people identify themselves as artists in the Valley. While located in Mesa County, the Mesa County Public Library District is a distinct entity separate from Mesa County government. Mesa County Libraries is the largest

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><b>Responsibilities. </b>Under the direction of the governing Board of Trustees, the Library Director is responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all library services and programs.
The Director collaboratively develops and implements the strategic plan, works in conjunction with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement library policies, prepares and presents the annual budget, stays abreast of library and industry best practices,
pursues sound facilities management, and sets the standard of excellence for all operations. The successful candidate will also model a collaborative, positive style of leadership ensuring proper management of personnel and encouraging a climate of inclusivity.
In addition to internal collaboration and team building, the Director will be the primary spokesperson and ensure that the Library is successful in fundraising, development, and communications. Working with community leaders and elected officials is a critical

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><b>Qualifications. </b>Minimum qualifications are a Master’s in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program and five years of progressively responsible experience in a library environment or any equivalent
combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work and lead the organization. Essential skills include a strong commitment to customer service, the ability to adapt to change,
a willingness to take initiative and act on opportunities, political savvy, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment through strong administrative skills. Successful experience reporting to a governing board and experience in a multi-branch environment
are preferred.<o:p></o:p></p>
