Director Search Due to the impending retirement of the current director, the Indian River Area Library is accepting resumes for the position of Library Director. The Indian River Area Library is a Class I library serving a legal population of 3,091 in the Township of Tuscarora, increasing 52% in the summer months with seasonal residents. The library is open 35 hours, four days a week with a staff of one, enhanced with volunteers. It has an annual budget of roughly $110,000. The Library Board is seeking a dynamic individual to lead the library in this "hands-on" administration position. Applicants must have a minimum of an Associates's Degree or one year of progressively responsible library work within the past three years, and an understanding of current public library principles, methods and practices. The Library Director is responsible for the total operations of the Indian River Area Library. As such the applicant must have strong financial and management skills; be knowledgeable in technological applications and trends; possess excellent writing, communication and presentation skills, including grant writing capabilities; interpersonal and collaborative skills along with political acumen and an understanding of rural community library sensibilities. The Library Director works with the elected Board of Trustees to establish goals, objectives, policies and budgets, and is responsible for their effective implementation and evaluation. Employment is at will and the Director works at the pleasure of the Library Board of Trustees and is the Library's chief administrator, representing the library in the community.
