Shaker Heights is a friendly and diverse city bordering Cleveland. As one of Cleveland’s oldest suburbs, it was a planned community, envisioned as a suburban oasis from the industrial environment of its large neighbor. Today residents enjoy the plentiful green spaces, range of housing options and great schools that resulted from decades of careful planning. Residents are passionate about the library and it is a huge presence in the community. Per-capita circulation is extremely high, and there is a healthy demand for many different programs and services to meet the needs of the diverse population.
