<p class="MsoNormal">The Dowagiac District Library is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to provide top-notch programming and library services to youth of all ages. A bachelor’s degree or higher is required and recent MLS/MLIS graduates are encouraged

<p class="MsoNormal">Job Description:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Under the supervision of the Library Director, performs professional library work related to:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Planning, organizing, and executing library programs and activities designed for children ages birth through grade 12, including the Summer Reading Program.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Submitting press releases on programs to local media outlets.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Coordinating in-house activities with staff.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Assisting patrons in the selection and use of library materials and electronic resources.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Developing and maintaining library collections and program supplies within the Children’s Department.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Performing outreach to area schools, daycares, and others to promote the Library.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Providing excellent customer service and management of the children’s circulation desk.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Participating in continuing education opportunities, including attending conferences and meetings.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Processing children’s materials for the collections.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Performing other duties as assigned.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> Job Requirements:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Requires a bachelor’s degree and experience working with children and teens.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Masters in Library and Information Science candidates preferred.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Strong knowledge of children’s books and series.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Experience with eBooks, tablets, and other current technologies.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Excellent oral and written communication skills.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Self-motivated and creative.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">· Strong organizational skills.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> Hours: 40 hours per week, including one Saturday a month and one evening a week.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Salary: $27,000-$30,000/yr. depending on experience. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance and paid time off.<o:p></o:p></p>
