<div dir="ltr"><div></div>The Henry Ford (Dearborn, MI) is looking for a part-time Assistant Librarian. Please see the full description below. Apply online a<font size="2"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">t <span><a href="http://www.thehenryford.org/about/jobposting.aspx?category=Historical+Resources&AppliTrackJobId=357&AppliTrackLayoutMode=detail&AppliTrackViewPosting=1">http://www.thehenryford.org/about/jobposting.aspx?category=Historical+Resources&AppliTrackJobId=357&AppliTrackLayoutMode=detail&AppliTrackViewPosting=1</a></span></span></font><br><br>Assistant Librarian (part time)<br>JobID: 357<br> <br>Position Type:    <br>  Historical Resources<br>Date Posted:<br>  12/3/2015<br><br>Assistant Librarian   (part-time position)<br><br>*Note:  Please upload cover letter and resume to the online application<br><br>SUMMARY OF PURPOSE<br>Serves as assistant librarian with a variety of general responsibilities relating to library collections and services.  Reports to the Librarian.  Responds to reference requests.  Catalogs books (including rare books), serials, and audiovisual and archival materials using professionally accepted library standards and practices.  Responsible for daily management of the serials collection.  Generates interlibrary loan requests for The Henry Ford staff and fills requests from other libraries.  Works with the integrated library system including the library catalog, circulation system, and serials system.<br> <br>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<br>     Participates in the acquisition of materials, including purchasing, cataloging, and processing books, trade literature, periodicals, microforms, journals, databases, and videos.<br>    Supports the work of the Library Collection Development Committee.<br>    Assists with circulation and use of research center materials, office loans, and overdue items.<br>    Generates interlibrary loan requests to other libraries on behalf of THF staff.  Fulfills interlibrary loan requests from other libraries.<br>    Serves on the Reference Desk in the Archives and Library Reading Room.<br>    Participate with Behind the Scenes Tours program and user education activities including orientations for students, visitors, and other clientele.<br><br>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<br>ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science.  One to two years’ professional experience in libraries, rare books, or special collections. Current knowledge of standard library cataloging practices, including strong familiarity with the MARC format and AACR2 and RDA cataloging rules.  Current knowledge of library information retrieval practices and procedures, especially in the areas on-line information retrieval, and electronic access to information.<br> <br>Experience with integrated library systems, reference and public services, cataloging, and interlibrary loan systems and procedures.<br> <br>Communicates clearly and politely in all written and oral communication.  Ability to work independently and productively as well as work effectively as part of a team.  Ability to engage all levels of a diverse user community in a congenial and productive way.<br> <br>Able to manage multiple projects, able to determine project urgency in a practical way; uses goals to guide actions, organizes and schedules tasks effectively.  Attention to detail and an eye for quality.<br> <br>Experienced with Microsoft Office software.  Aptitude to quickly learn new systems and software.<br> <br>Generates, analyzes, and reports statistics relating to acquisition, circulation, and interlibrary loan activities.<br> <br>Participates with Behind the Scenes Tours program and user education activities including orientations for students, visitors, and other clientele.<br> <br>SPECIAL SKILLS<br>Knowledge of the EMu content management system as reflected in the EMu Skills Matrix for the Archives & Library.  All staff members are expected to achieve a level of competency so that they may work independently on the essential skills, and will be required to achieve a high level of competency on position specific skills required by their position.<br> <br>PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL<br> <br>PHYSICAL:  <br>Sitting:  70-90%<br>Standing/Walking:  10-30%<br>Lifting:  Occasional to frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.<br>Manual Dexterity:  Capable of safely handling fragile collection materials.<br>Vision:  Normal.  May require long periods of work at computers.<br> <br>MENTAL:     <br>Analytical; interpretive; good at problem solving.  Able to analyze information, draw conclusions, and effectively communicate those conclusions.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to remain aware of long-term goals while producing immediate solutions.   Attention to detail essential.  Commitment to excellence essential.<br> <br>ENVIRONMENTAL:           <br>Indoor environment.  Occasional exposure to dust and mold.<br><br>*Note:  Please upload cover letter and resume to the online application<br
