in our individual class rooms, but I discovered a stash of them in the teachers workroom. I would sneak in and climb up the shelves to reach the books. Someone caught most every time, but apparently I didn't care. I read three shelves worth.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

those books were moved from biography to fiction. The versions I read had orange covers and the illustrations were done in black silhouettes. They have updated the series and there is a volume on Harry Houdini that came out in 1969 and was reissued in 1991.<br>

1960s (or maybe earlier) and featured b&w line drawings illustrating the person's life. The covers featured the same artwork, and the background color for each book jacket was a different color. I remember reading the book on Eleanor Roosevelt (blue/gray,
I think) and the one on Abe Lincoln (tan). Amelia Earhart was also in the series.
