Hi Everyone,
First, thank you for your patience with the long delay between updates. It took some time to get up to speed on things in this role and I'm turning attention back to MI SPI. I have a few updates and next steps.
1.
I'm finalizing the Gold Rush license. Participating libraries will receive a 15% consortial discount and for the most part, the annual price will be $1,050 for each library.
*
MSU's cost is a bit higher, as pricing is based on record counts, but I believe they already participate in Gold Rush, so this may be a moot point.
*
As an aside, keep in mind you can use Gold Rush to do some print collection analysis in addition to using it for MI SPI.
2.
I will set up Gold Rush as a subscription in Consortia Manager, which will allow us to manage the renewal, etc. I should have that ready to go soon and will let the group know.
3.
The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries (the provider of Gold Rush) will offer a webinar to demo the platform and talk through how it works. They will also offer support to individual libraries who have questions, etc.
4.
Each library will be responsible for loading their records into the system, using instructions which will be provided by the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries.
5.
There have been some personnel changes at various libraries, so we also need to make sure we have current MI SPI contacts on the list. I'll be contacting a few schools individually where I'm aware of personnel changes, but please let me know if you need any changes in contacts.
6.
Stay tuned for a scheduling poll, so we can get a meeting on our calendars (in addition to the Gold Rush webinar). We'd like to check in about next steps for MI SPI.
Based on the meeting last fall, and subsequent emails, I have the following libraries as wanting to participate in Gold Rush:
Central Michigan University
Eastern Michigan University
Grand Valley State University
Kettering University
Michigan State University*
Northern Michigan University
Oakland University
Saginaw Valley State University
University of Michigan-Dearborn
Wayne State University Law
Western Michigan University
*MSU colleagues, if you already have your records in Gold Rush, we won't need to add you to the subscription. Please let me know how you'd like to proceed. My understanding is that your records can be shared with the MI SPI libraries in the system.
I recall that Spring Arbor and Baker College were tentative, due to personnel changes, so please let me know if you have questions and/or if you'd like to opt in.
Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy the long upcoming weekend!
Warmly,
Sarah
